For Savannah Kamp, baking didn’t begin with a business plan.
It started in the kitchen when she was around 10 years old.
She can’t pinpoint the exact moment she fell in love with baking—she just remembers always wanting to do it. Over the years, that childhood hobby grew into baking for friends and family, attending culinary school, selling at local markets, and eventually building Bake Me Krazy, her growing baking business in Queen Creek.
And yes, the “K” in Krazy is intentional.
“My last name is Kamp, so I wanted to do Bake Me Krazy but with a K,” Savannah says.
It’s a small detail that makes the name uniquely hers—and the business behind it is just as personal.
A Love for Baking That Started Young
Savannah began experimenting in the kitchen when she was still a kid.
By high school, she had started Bake Me Krazy and was creating desserts for friends and family. At the time, though, it was much more of a passion project than a thriving business.
“I was getting maybe five orders a year.”
But Savannah kept baking.
After high school, she attended Scottsdale Community College, where she completed its baking and cooking program. The experience helped her discover which parts of the culinary world she loved most.
While she enjoys baking, it’s the creative side—especially decorating—that really draws her in.
The Hardest Part Was Getting People to Know Her Name
Savannah had the skills, the equipment, and plenty of encouragement.
What she didn’t have yet were customers.
“Getting my name out there was probably the hardest.”
After culinary school, there was a period when Savannah wondered whether the business was ever going to take off.
She wasn’t seeing the growth she’d hoped for, and there were moments when she considered giving up.
But two things kept her moving forward: her faith and her family.
“I think just leaning on God, that He will provide,” she says. “It was hard, but a lot of patience.”
Her parents were especially encouraging.
“They were like, ‘We know you’re going to succeed. You just have to be patient.'”
Eventually, that patience started paying off.
Facebook Changed Everything
One of Savannah’s biggest turning points came from something she’d put off for a long time: promoting her business on Facebook.
Once she finally created a presence there and began participating in Queen Creek community groups, people started discovering Bake Me Krazy.
“Right as I did it, it started taking off.”
Then came word-of-mouth referrals.
Customers began recommending her to other customers, and Savannah also started attending local markets to get her products in front of more people.
The business she’d been quietly building since high school finally began gaining momentum.
Growing Up Around Entrepreneurs
Savannah’s entrepreneurial spirit isn’t entirely surprising.
Both of her parents own businesses, so she grew up seeing firsthand what it looked like to build something of your own.
“I think even growing up, I was like, ‘I want to do something on my own.'”
Her parents haven’t just inspired her—they’ve actively supported Bake Me Krazy from the beginning.
Because Savannah started baking so young, birthdays and Christmases often meant receiving new baking supplies. Little by little, she accumulated the tools she needed to grow.
Her siblings are part of her support system, too.
When Savannah is decorating, family members will stop by to watch her work and see the finished cakes and cookies.
One of her nieces has already decided she has a future role in the company.
“She always says, ‘I want to be a baker when I grow up. I’m going to work for you.'”
Savannah’s response?
“Okay!”
Building Confidence One Order at a Time
Growing Bake Me Krazy hasn’t only changed Savannah professionally.
It’s changed her personally, too.
When orders weren’t coming in during the early years, she questioned whether her work simply wasn’t good enough.
Today, customer reviews and repeat business have helped her see her talent differently.
“I would say just more confidence in my skills.”
That confidence has also changed how she handles criticism. Instead of immediately taking negative feedback personally, Savannah can listen, learn, and move forward knowing the value of her work.
And there’s been another unexpected benefit.
Savannah describes herself as naturally shy, but meeting customers and participating in markets has pushed her outside of her comfort zone.
“I think meeting customers and meeting more people at the markets is getting me out of my shell.”
The business isn’t just becoming bigger.
Savannah is growing right alongside it.
Creating Desserts Customers Are Excited to Receive
One thing Savannah takes especially seriously is making sure customers are happy with their orders.
Custom baking requires understanding someone’s vision before ever turning on the oven.
That’s why she asks questions, learns exactly what customers are looking for, and works to make each dessert feel personal.
“I want you to enjoy your desserts.”
While decorated cakes and sugar cookies showcase her artistic side, Savannah wants more people to know about another part of Bake Me Krazy’s menu: gourmet cookies.
She’s created flavors including:
- S’mores
- Oreo
- M&M
- Cookie Monster
- Chocolate chip
- Biscoff cookie butter
She often brings a few flavors to local markets, but hopes to experiment with even more combinations and give the gourmet cookie side of her business more attention.
Turning Arizona Monsoon Season Into Cookies
Savannah’s creativity was especially apparent during a recent challenge centered around Arizona monsoon season.
She chose decorated sugar cookies because they gave her the ability to incorporate small details into each design.
Her inspiration came from the things Queen Creek residents know all too well: dusty skies, storm clouds, rain, lightning, umbrellas, and those beautiful rainbows that sometimes appear after a storm.
She even created a “Monsoon Season Ahead” warning-sign cookie.
Other designs incorporated the shape of Arizona, cacti, clouds, lightning, rain, and a rainbow.
“After the storm, there’s always a rainbow.”
The finished collection captured monsoon season in a way that was unmistakably Arizona—and unmistakably Bake Me Krazy.
What’s Next for Bake Me Krazy?
Savannah’s long-term dream is to eventually make baking her full-time career.
And she already has a vision for what the next chapter could look like.
Rather than opening a traditional walk-in bakery, she dreams of having her own dedicated commercial kitchen and consultation space.
Customers planning weddings and special events could come in, discuss their vision, and participate in cake tastings, while Savannah would finally have a professional kitchen with enough room for all those baking supplies currently tucked into every available space.
For now, though, she’s embracing the busy season she’s worked so hard to reach.
“This is what I prayed for, so I’m so grateful.”
A Queen Creek Baking Business Built With Patience
Bake Me Krazy didn’t become successful overnight.
Savannah spent years baking when there were only a handful of orders. She went to culinary school. She practiced. She questioned herself. She learned how to market her work. She joined local Facebook groups. She attended markets.
And, most importantly, she kept going.
Today, every new customer, referral, review, and order is another reminder that sometimes a dream doesn’t need a different plan.
It just needs more time.
For Savannah, that patience is turning a childhood love of baking into something much sweeter: a business of her own.
